Helping Hand Intiative
Sigma Nu at Northern Illinois University is very involved in the local DeKalb community participating in volunteer opportunites with companies and organizations such as: Egyptian Theatre, Salvation Army, Red Cross of DeKalb, St. Jude Children's Hospital, etc. Sigma Nu also started its first annual philanthropy event last in the Spring '07 semester, a Powder Puff football tournament.
The first annual "Sigma Nu Powder Puff Football Tournament" took place on April 30th 2007 and raised four hundred dollars for the benefit of St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Since 2015, every year Sigma Nu hosts their annual "Pet the Huskies" fundrasier where people can pet and spend time with a bunch of huskies. Many times, Mission, our mascot, comes to visit. All proceeds will then go to local animal shelters.
